Hype, speculation, several drop dates pushed–all the ingredients to a good pre-release campaign. But will Raekwon’s follow up album live up to the legacy of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx? Going way back to 1995, Cuban Linx is still holding ground as one of the most respected solo projects to come out of the Wu-Tang crew.
A full album release date appears to be getting closer (sometime this summer). Until then, get a taste by downloading this teaser track: Necro.
The album even has its own Wikipedia page: “Similar to the first Cuban Linx album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II will be set up in cinematic fashion, tying each song together in a sort of storyline, and each rapper playing an implied ‘persona’ of sorts; for instance, Raekwon is the main protagonist, with GZA and Inspectah Deck playing ’supporting roles’ throughout. Other guests will also take Gambino personas as well. In a Scratch Magazine article, they confirmed these tracks which were all produced by the RZA, “Thug World”, “Rock Stars & Smoking Barrels”, “State Of Grace”, “Kareem Khan” & “No Matter How Hard You Try”. Wu-Tang’s DJ Allah Mathematics confirmed on his Myspace he will have song called “Mean Streets” featuring GZA & Inspectah Deck on the album.”
